This infographic clearly explains the workings and theory behind the Paleo Diet. Basically the diet focuses on what foods were available in caveman times – ie what our bodies were supposed to eat as nature intended before agriculture and processed food entered our lives.

Many people believe that the Paleo diet is a low carb diet but that isn’t really true. There are not actually any limits or restrictions on the amount of carbs, rather the type of carbs such as grains and processed garbage. This diet seems to produce fantastic health and weight loss results for its followers but it does require a total lifestyle change.

Personally I think that is a good thing because at the end of the day with any diet, if you do not change your lifestyle then you will really struggle at losing weight and also keeping it off.

If you think that Paleo might work for you then try it out and see what you think. If all these foods are a bit alien to you and you are struggling for ideas to make meals interesting then invest in a Paleo Cookbook. They are quite inexpensive but contain hundreds of recipes for you to try.
