How The Paleo Diet Works

The Paleo diet plan is going to primarily focus on having you eat a diet that’s rich in fruits and vegetables along with lean animal proteins and

healthy fats coming from nuts (in moderation), seeds, healthy oils and avocado’s along with fatty sources of fish.

Although today there appears to be several variations of the Paleo diet, the basic principles are similar.

You’ll be avoiding all processed snack foods in this diet, so that means eliminating foods such as crackers, cakes, cookies, chocolate, candy, pasta, sugary cereals, breads – basically anything containing

wheat or a long list of ingredients doesn’t belong on the Paleo diet plan.

Furthermore, you’ll also avoid consuming dairy products on this diet as well as any form of tubers. Grains are to be omitted from the diet, so this includes rice, wild rice, barley, millet, as well as quinoa.

Legumes including beans, peas, as well as peanuts are also no-go’s on this diet, so these should be left out of your meal plan as well.

Finally, any sort of processed meats such as sausage, bacon, or deli meats should also be eliminated as they aren’t going to supply you with the high quality source of protein that you need.

No! There isn’t actually a limit on carbs as such, it’s just a lot of carbs today are processed rather than what a caveman could eat for example. Also a lot of people taking up Paleo tend to try to keep complex carbs low anyway for further weight loss which is why you will see more of this discussed in forums.

Eat as many non grain, whole carbs as you like though with the Paleo diet but if you are going for weight loss, try to keep them lower!

Also the Atkins diet didn’t focus on good fats whereas Paleo does. Good fats get rid of bad fats and do a whole world of good for your body whereas bad fats clog arteries and do a whole world of hurt for your body!

Paleo/Primal also focuses on exercise and a healthy lifestyle too which is often overlooked yet so very important.

Also just note that low carb or not low carb, Paleo, Atkins or chocolate and McDonalds diet . . if you eat too much you will still gain weight so just keep an eye on your total daily calories too if you have any kind of weight/fat goal.
